Harvest Gifts for the Poor Clare Sisters in Arkley – October

Our annual collection for the community of Poor Clares will take place next weekend on Saturday, 7th and Sunday, 8th of October. Please bring donations of staple foods this weekend e.g. flour, sugar, rice, biscuits on 30th of September and the 1st of October (no meat please). Vegetables, fruit and flowers can be brought from Friday, 6th until Sunday, 8th October. The Poor Clares live out the ‘Live Simply’ life on a daily basis following the Franciscan rule and support us with their prayers. Please give whatever you can manage.

Family Fast Day Soup Lunch: Friday, 6th October 2023

There will be a soup lunch straight after morning mass on Friday, 6th October in the Parish Centre. Please come and join us. Any donations will go to CAFOD.

This Newspaper is now available in the Church porch. Please make a donation towards the cost. They also have an excellent website full of trustworthy articles and an online shop with all subscribers receiving a 10% discount.

Our RCIA programme will start soon

Our programme for adults interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith will start soon. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) programme provides an opportunity to understand the Catholic faith and to prepare for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. The first phase of the programme is focussed on finding out more about our faith and is open to all, without any need for commitment at this stage. The programme will be held weekly at a time to suit peoples availability; each session is just over an hour long. Blessing of the pets- Saturday, 7th October 2023

The annual blessing of the pets, to mark the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, will take place on Saturday, 7th October 2023, in the Church garden at 1pm.

Family Bingo – Saturday, 30th September

The next Family Bingo will be on Saturday, 30th September 2023, from 7pm. Come along and join this fun-filled family event. The kids love it. Bring your own nibbles. Cash prizes to be won! The bar will be open.

Sunday, 10th September: Only one morning mass at 10am

GOING FORTH MASS: Next Sunday, the 10th September, there will be only one morning Mass at 10am, as the Parish celebrates a ‘Going Forth’ Mass to celebrate the gift of children of the Parish who took the sacrament of First Holy Communion this year. It will also be an occasion to offer prayers for the new school year. They will once again wear their First Holy Communion outfits. After Mass everyone is invited to the hall to continue the celebration.

Music Evening, Friday 14th July 2023

A note from the Social Club: “Music Evening” on Friday, 14th July 2023, in the Parish Centre.

We are having a very informal music evening in the Parish Centre next Friday, 14th July. The music group will play a few songs and the bar will be open. Please join us from 8pm onwards.
