Our Ecumenical Justice and Peace Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 8pm at St. John’s URC church, Mowbray Road, just 5 minutes down the road from St. Peter’s.  Our meeting is always open to all.

Over the years, we have campaigned on many issues and tried to raise awareness in our parishes by encouraging people to sign petitions,(especially for Cafod), hold events and and have liturgies to focus on a particular issue.

On Remembrance Sunday we always have a short service in our Peace Garden where we place wreathes of red poppies and white poppies.  We keep in fairly regular touch with our MP about the Arms trade, Trade Justice, Poverty at Home and Abroad and constantly keep ourselves updated on Climate  Change and Environmental topics.

Alongside this our parish has taken on a “Live Simply” project inspired by the encyclical of Pope Francis “Laudato Si” all  about care of our common home.
