COVID-19 – UPDATED Message from our Parish to our Parishioners

Dear Parishioners,

You will be aware of announcements from the Government and from the Diocese regarding the current situation.  As a result, we will be stopping public Masses from Friday 20th March until further notice.

From Monday 23rd March 2020 until further notice, the Church and Our Lady’s Chapel will both be locked. No one is permitted to enter either area as per the latest Government Guidelines.

We will be broadcasting one Mass a week live from the Church via YouTube at 11am every Sunday. It will be available to watch live, and then to download afterwards.

You will be able to access these Masses via the Parish website here:

stpetersnewbarnet.org.uk/virtual-mass/

Or directly on YouTube here:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0d8t74nuCDwvjgjqZbefag

Please do try to make the time to watch, live if possible, and please do give us your feedback via email so we know you are there.

Please also stay in contact with the Parish during this time, whether by phone or email.  If you are experiencing difficulties of any kind, please let us know and through the various groups in the Parish we will do all we can to help.  Equally, if you are willing and able to help others through their difficulties please do let us know via the Parish email or phone.

With you in prayers,

Fr James, Fr Dominic, Fr. Terkura & all at St Peters.

Please, don’t lose heart. Please, get deeper rooted. When a plant is deprived of some surface water, it has to put down deeper roots. We are going to have to put down deeper roots of the Spirit and we know that God will nurture us.

Sheila Gallagher Presented with a Papal Blessing from CAFOD

Big congratulations to Sheila Gallagher, who was presented with a Papal Blessing from CAFOD at the 11 a.m. mass on Sunday 3 February 2019 for all her hard work over the years for CAFOD.

The Papal Blessing is a certificate of thanks from CAFOD and Pope Francis to thank her for her dedicated work for over 25 years for CAFOD.

She has work tirelessly for campaigns over the years concerning CAFOD’s Global Justice.

She had a reception in the Parish Centre after the mass where many parishioners joined her to celebrate.

Thank you Carol and Welcome Annette!

This Sunday, 18 November 2018, we saw the departure of our dedicated Fairtrade representative, Carol Knight (on the right below).

She is off to a new parish and we wish her well – we are sure that she will continue her good work there too. Fr. James presented her with a bottle of wine – Fairtrade of course – at a little get together in the Parish Centre!

Annette McAndrew (on the left below) will be joining us as the Fairtrade representative for the Parish.

A big Thank you from Poor Clares!

After the Harvest Festival in October 2018, some parishioners took up the Parish offerings to the Poor Clares in Arkley.  The Poor Clares were very grateful for your thoughts and offerings.

They will be praying for the Parish as a whole, and most especially for the children undertaking their First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation, as well as the young adults undertaking Confirmation.

Pentecost Sunday

Our celebration of Pentecost was a truly wonderful occasion. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make all the delicious food we enjoyed together.
